Edinburgh Marathon 2012 - Half Marathon · 27 May 2012 ·
Battling cancer. How many of you know someone who can be described that way? Probably most of you have been impacted by cancer in one way or another. It is always, always a shock, whether it's you or a family member or a friend. Until last October, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I had remained removed the battle and had no idea what it was going to look like. I only knew I would have to fight it and I knew I would have my family and friends behind me.
The support I have received from the people in my life has been overwhelming, lifted me up, and given me strength. After two surgeries and 20 weeks of chemotherapy, I am still training for the Edinburgh Half Marathon. I will finish my final treatment 12 days before the race, and begin radiation 10 days after. When I saw that this race was connected to Macmillan Cancer Support, I knew I had to shoot for it and that I had to help raise money for this charity. It was simply meant to be! Please check out the outstanding work they are doing in the UK for cancer patients on their web page. Your donation will help someone just like me receive the care they need to fight the battle.
