I've never done the Middlesbrough 10k before but really wanted to and began training 9 weeks ago; I've had support off the Evening Gazette, Middlesbrough PCT, trainer Phil Barker as well as family and friends. Since then I have gone from being very much a non-runner to someone who can actually run in an event like this, and achieve their goal.

I've been approached a number of times by people wishing to sponsor me in my efforts; to this end, I have chosen to donate any monies raised to Teesside Hospice. This choice was inspired by the death of a friend of ours, recently, and the care and support given to her and her family in her last weeks by the Hospice were second to none.
