Woking Hospice and Sam Beare Hospice, Weybridge are independent registered charities that provide Hospice care across Surrey.

As well as providing in-patient care and day care units at both Hospices our community team are vital in providing  services over a much wider area including the boroughs of Woking, Spelthorne, Runnymede and Elmbridge.

As demand for the expert specialist care they provide reaches an all time high, income has been hit by economic pressures way beyond their control. Therefore on the 9th October 2009 day care facilities at both Hospices were part-suspended. All other care services are continuing including procedures to day care patients such as blood transfusions and administering intravenous medication.

The Hospice has now launched an emergency appeal to raise £2.4million in 12 months. It is an enormous amount of money in very little time. The desparate reality is that they need to raise the first £600,000 by the end of December 2009 to ensure they do not have to suspend any more vital services and also safeguard other aspects of our work.

We have all probably been affected in some way, directly on indirectly, by cancer, so please dig deep for a very worthy cause. Thank you.
