<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span><span style="mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">12 weeks ago a friend’s 16 year old daughter, Francesca Sapio, was taken ill and subsequently diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma, which is a cancer of the </span><a title="The lymphatic system" href="http://www.macmillan.org.uk/Cancerinformation/Cancertypes/LymphomaHodgkin/AboutHodgkinlymphoma/Thelymphaticsystem.aspx"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri; text-underline: none;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">lymphatic system</span></span></a><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;"> and is sometimes called Hodgkin’s disease. </span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span><span style="mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Francesca recently started 6 cycles of Chemotherapy at University College Hospital London which will take a minimum of 6 months. The major physical side effect to the Chemotherapy is Alopecia, which you may know as hair loss to the scalp. During her treatment all of her hair has fallen out and it is likely to stay that way for the next few months too.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span><span style="mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">Francesca has experienced first-hand the tremendous support that the Teenage Cancer Trust provides to kids going through this and would like to give something back so they can help kids in future who find themselves in a similar situation.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span><span style="mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;">So there have been 30 of us, including 3 women, who all shaved our heads at a big party at Francesca’s house on the 21st May, which we called the ‘Shave-A-Thon’.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;"> </span><span style="mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="font-size: small;">We hope this will put a smile on Francesca’s face and raise lots of money for Teenage Cancer Trust.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So far the total amount is very close to £40k (40 thousand pounds) which is our team target.</span></span></span></p>
