We provide dedicated care and support to Sheffield people with terminal illness

Story

Dave Sheasby was an amazing father, grandfather, husband and friend. He was diagnosed with  malignant melanoma in August 2008 and then in September 2009 we were told the cancer had spread. Treatment was unsuccessful and in February 2010 Dave went into St Luke's Hospice in Sheffield. It is here he spent the last 4 days of his life and he was made as comfortable as possible and given fantastic treatment by all of the nurses at St Luke’s. The nurses also welcomed us, his very large family, into the hospice and helped us through the process as much as they possibly could.Dave passed away on February 26th with his wife and all his children around him. We are running the Sheffield half marathon and the Sheffield fun run in memory of Dave to raise as much money as we can for all those wonderful nurses at St Luke’s. The hospice is funded entirely by charity and provides a free service for either long term cancer sufferers or for people nearing the end of their life and without donations wouldn’t be able to provide this brilliant care. Please give as much as you can, it’s all for a good cause!!! Thanks!

About the charity

St Luke’s is an independent charity caring for terminally ill adults and their loved ones across Sheffield. Each year, we care for around 1,900 patients most of whom are cared for in their own home by our Specialist Palliative Care Community team.
