Story

I always believed that I would run a marathon one day, but never really did anything to make it happen.

So how did it happen you may ask? Well to cut a long story short, I was out one evening and tried to set up a friend with a friend of a friend, as you do, by challenging them to a 'run off' at the London marathon. I was on a roll and had them making all sorts of bets and forfeits with each other. But several red bulls later I was feeling invincible and somehow managed to get tangled into this little wager. So I called my friend that helps run a charity (one cause) as I knew he would get some charity places for the London marathon. We went through the charity ballot and were fortunate to get places. And that is how the story goes.

The moral of the story is don’t drink more than 5 red bulls in one evening and don't try and set up your friends....it always backfires!

BUT now I am excited about the biggest physical challenge I have ever undertaken. I am out running and loving it! There are good days and bad days, but all have some element of pain and pleasure. I am sure you will all appreciate running in the winter is not for the faint hearted, but I am out there to make it happen. My friends at work say that I look like a super hero with all the running gear I wear. But I can’t print the name they gave me :-) suffice to say the expression 'all gear no idea' has been thrown around.

So far I have run a half marathon distance and the prospect of turning around and doing it again is a scary one. But I will do it and am looking to you to sponsor me for this great little charity called one cause (www.onecauseuk.org). I have known one of the founder members personally for a number of years and have seen the brilliant things they have done with the money. Please visit their web site for more information. I will keep you posted on my training progress and hope you will give generously.

Ready.....get set......go!!!
