Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So here I go again, itchy feet for adventure and a promise to help a friend raise some needed funds for the Cancer Care and Haematology unit at Stoke Mandeville hospital. My last trek in 2008 in the Himalayas raised £3000 in sponsorship for another local charity and it would be great to meet or exceed my last target. This time I am trekking the Inca trail in Aug 2010. This is a fantastic opportunity to not only take part in an arduous and high altitude trek but very importantly raise money for a special charity. All my fundraising is for the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital which is a unique and essential set up, saving many local people the longer journey to other Cancer Care units out of the area. The Unit formerly known as the ‘Wooden Spoon unit’ provides holistic care as part of their ethos is to ensure that patients and their families receive emotional support in a calm comfortable and relaxing environment. Cancer touches the lives of many of us and knowing that there is such supportive local care delivered in a unique way by such dedicated staff is a comforting thought. The cost of the trip is being paid for by me so any sponsorship money I raise will go direct to The Cancer Care Unit. So please dig deep and sponsor me and help me in raising as much money as I can.
