<p>As most of you will know our lovely Grandson Ben was diagnosed with a brain tumour in December 2009,&nbsp;10 days after his 5th birthday.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; It took many months with frequent visits to his GP, visits to out of hours emergency departments and even an overnight stay in hospital before he was eventually diagnosed.&nbsp; There were many different reasons given for why Ben was continually so ill but unfortunately nobody recognised that these were signs of Cancer.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ben's symptoms were classic and yet they were missed on every occasion.&nbsp; Unfortunately&nbsp;this seems to be the case all too often.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Be Child Cancer Aware is an excellent charity set up by parents who have had similar experiences.&nbsp; Their main aim is to raise awareness of childhood cancer symptoms throughout the UK.&nbsp; They are doing a fantastic job so far but receive no official funding and so rely entirely on donations.&nbsp; Take a look at their website to see for yourself the great work they do <a href="http://www.bechildcanceraware.org">http://www.bechildcanceraware.org</a>.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; If anyone was&nbsp;thinking about&nbsp;buying us a gift for our forthcoming Ruby Wedding we would request that you consider making a donation to this fantastic cause instead.&nbsp; It would be very much appreciated.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; This can be done very easily and securely through this site.&nbsp; All donations are being collected via&nbsp;the Maria Watt Foundation&nbsp;but everything raised will go directly to the awareness campaign organised through Be Child Cancer Aware.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; As many of you are aware, it's been an extremely turbulent year for us all.&nbsp; Despite this Ben is&nbsp;still smiling, as he has been throughout.&nbsp; We have a long road ahead but at the moment Ben is doing extremely well.&nbsp; Long may this continue!</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Thanks for taking the time to visit&nbsp;our JustGiving page.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>We look forward to seeing you all on the 20th.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Peter &amp; Sheila</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
