Bupa Great South Run 2009 · 25 October 2009 ·

Upbeat is a voluntary, self financing local charity for patients with heart related illnesses. It was established in1995 with the aims of mutual support and help, coupled with professional expertise from cardiac nurses and instructors, to help patients overcome and cope with heart issues.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

4 Years ago my Uncle Gordon died very suddenly of a heart attack. He was only 61. At the time he had lost weight, was leading a healthy lifestyle and although he had previously had a heart attack, it was a great shock to all of his family and friends because he appeared to be in such good health. Upbeat, a Suffolk based charity, has been a huge support to my aunt in trying to come to terms with his death and to many others in the same situation. But they also support those who have had a heart attack or other heart related problems by providing exercise, social and health educational activities.

I made the decision earlier this year to run the Great South Run, and whilst I know it is going to be a painful experience (for all involved!), charities like Upbeat make that pain worthwhile having seen first hand the effects of the support they provide. So from the bottom of my heart, legs and lungs to the depths of your wallet or purse, please dig deep and donate now.

Many thanks.

Shelagh
