This year, two teams from Lloyds Banking Group Ship Finance will be going head to head at the 2010 Mazda London Triathlon on 7th August, competing in the olympic distance team relay event in a bid to settle a few scores about strength, stamina and athletic prowess.

Team 1: Bart Veldhuizen (1,500m swim), Jim McCall (40km bike ride), Shelley Morrison (10km run)

Team 2: Will Barrand (1,500m swim), Nick Barrand (40km bike ride), Linzi Morrison(10km run)

More importantly, Ship Finance aims to raise £6,000 on behalf of Concern. Concern Worldwide is core charity partner of  London-based corporate advisory and shipping investment firm Marine Capital, and Lloyds Banking Group has agreed to take part in this event for the third year running. Concern is a long-established sponsor of education and health welfare projects in some of the world’s poorest countries. This year, the teams competeing on behalf of Concern are aiming to raise funds for a critical project in .  One of the unseen consequences of the Liberian war was the complete loss of vital farming knowledge and skills and the funds raised from the 2010 Triathlon will support ten groups of vulnerable women to grow and harvest more food in rural through the provision of seeds, training and tools.  For more information on Concern, please see the following link: http://www.concern.net/en

We'd be most grateful for any sponsorship you may be able to spare for this fantastic cause. For expediency we’ve set up this justgiving page, primarily as donating through justgiving makes it simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us as Concern will receive the sponsorship money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

Thank you for your support,

 Ship Finance.
