As we near the end of 2010, I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all my family, friends, neighbours and colleagues. I have been overwhelmed by the love and support I have received, the list is endless, the journey has been a difficult one. As I write this, my hair is growing back, I feel fab and more like the normal Shelley!!!!!. Here's to breathing, happiness and health....... Love to all, Shelley.

My name is Shelley Smith. I am a mum of 2 boys aged 8 and 5 and I work as a specialist nurse at Cheltenham General hospital.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May. Following 3 operations in 3 weeks, I have decided to turn a negative experience into a positive one and shave my head for charity, prior to starting my chemotherapy course.

My nephew William is 12 years old and was born with Down's Syndrome. He attends St Rose's school in Stroud. The "Smile Appeal" is a school fundraising initiative working towards a hydrotherapy pool and physiotherapy unit. I would be very grateful if you could support this local charity, which is very close to my heart.

Thank you.
