A few years ago I had the incredible opportunity to meet my 'hero', a conservationist called Lawrence Anthony. He had written two books; The Elephant Whisperer and Babylon's Ark which inspired me to write my first ever email to a writer. His speedy and charming response was an invite to his reserve in South Africa to meet the herd of elephants and baby rhinos he had rescued and rehabilitated. It changed my life.  Sadly Lawrence passed away last year just as his book The Last Rhino went on sale in the UK.  This marathon effort is for him.  Hopefully I will raise shed loads of cash for Save the Rhino and make some small difference to safeguarding their future.  My knees are shot, my training due to workload has been erratic to say the least, so the thing that will spur both Giorgio (my trusty co runner and partner) and I on is knowing how much we will raise.  Please dig deep and make this third and final marathon of mine a winner.
