Byte Night Midlands 2016 · 7 October 2016 ·
On Friday 7th October 2016, myself and colleagues from GSA Techsource, Debbie Gregory, Jayne Morris, Louise Weir and Hannah Watson will be braving the cold and giving up our beds as we join Byte Night in Birmingham city centre.
Byte Night is an annual event where people give up their cosy, warm beds in exchange for a sleeping bag and a cold floor for a night. The reason for this is in an attempt to raise awareness (and precious donations) and help change the lives of thousands of young, vulnerable people who are forced into homelessness through no fault of their own.
It is estimated that last year, 1 in 4 children thought about running away from home, seeing this as their only option to get away from difficult, complex personal situations, with half of those actually going through with it.
This could happen to anyone's child and I know myself that if it were one of my daughters, I would want them to get all of the help, advice and support possible to try and rebuild their life's and show them that there is another way.
I am sleeping out on the city streets of Birmingham to try and raise this awareness and raise as much money as possible to support Action for Children.
