Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I must be crackers but in April and May this year, I will be riding my bike, with a couple of chums, 2000 miles from Mobile Alabama up to Canada. The route will follow the historic "Underground Railroad" route.(This was an informal network of secret routes and safe houses used by 19th-century black slaves in the United States to escape to free states and Canada.)

Though these days things are very different in the USA, sadly, slavery is not history. It continues today, although it may be given a different label. Women from eastern Europe are bonded into prostitution, children are trafficked between West African countries and men are forced to work as slaves on Brazilian agricultural estates.

So whilst I'm getting a numb bum, I have decided to try to raise £1 for every mile I ride for Anti-Slavery International and I hope you will sponsor me a mile or two. My trip is entirely self-financed. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. Anti-Slavery International will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK tax, an extra 28% will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
