2009 was the 20th Anniversary Year of People=Positive and the project we undertook to mark the occasion was the building of a school and dormitory for the young monklets of Shuchakul in Ladakh.  We did it!!!!  A fantastic team of people helped us to make this dream a reality.  This was part of a programme of projects being undertaken by the Lotusflower Trust and we were proud to work alongside them (please visit their website www.lotusflower.org to learn more about the great work).

We are now embarking on the next stage of our support and our aim is to help sustain the project over the next five years.  A local management committee has been set up to make sure that the school is kept in good order and that any essential maintenance work is carried out.

Temperatures in the Ladakh region are extreme and are currently minus 30 degrees with heavy snow.  We're just happy to know that we helped to build the school and dormitory you can see in the above photo and that we have helped to create a warm, secure environment for the monklets.
