Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hello everyone
Some of you already know that I am in Calcutta voluteering along with my aunt and the wonderful volunteers who work with Calcutta Rescue. It is a small charity that was set up literally in the streets and slums to give medical help and education to children and their families.
I can't really describe how overwhelming the depth of poverty is or the hundreds and hundreds of people in the streets that you have to step over nor the orphans who continuely face malnutrition, the child with leprosy that just wants a hug, the searing heat, the 'dusty dirty' everywhere, the snakes in the pipes, the sometimes electricity in the clinic while the doctors try to work, the dirty monsoon water for drinking or even the moment by moment hardship that everyone faces here on a daily basis. But I can tell you about the very clever children I have had the pleasure of teaching who desperately want to stay at school but must go back to rummaging in the dumps to find things to sell for their families to eat. I can tell you that there are thousands and thousands more just like them that it seems so hopeless but the truth is we can help and we can help the baby with AIDS whose family simply can't afford treatment and the leprosy patients who live their sad lives shunned by their communities.
It costs £18 per month to feed and keep a child in school and £18 per month for medical help for children with cancer or HIV.
With your help I would like to help 5 children for a year. (£1080)

Thank you very very much
