BREAKING NEWS:
We won again!
After some last minute travel challenges and a last minute addition to the team in Gordon Brownlee, we managed to secure the coveted Scotkart, Cash For Kids Trophy again! Thank you very much to all who donated for such a worthy cause. The event raised over £6,700! Until December....
UPDATE: Postponed until January due to the heavy snow! Still plenty more time to reach our target now!!!
We are once again entering a team in the Radio Clyde Cash For Kids charity kart race, held annually at the Scotkart racetrack - this time at Clydebank.
The race takes the form of a Le Mans style relay race, with each team having up to 5 drivers and the race lasting for 2 hours. The winner is the team with the kart completing the most laps, or out in front at the chequered flag.
We have competed in this event for the last 10 years or so and the last time we entered in 2008, we won! Whilst we will be trying to raise lots of money for a deserving "local" charity and enjoying taking part - we will be trying to come in first once again!
The team this year comprises of Chris Knox (Frontrunner in the British Mini Cooper series and multiple karting winner), Barry Sime (Former Clio, Formula Renault racer & multiple Scottish Karting Champion) Joe Tanner (Senior Knockhill Instructor and Formula Ford ace) and Iain Brown (Single Seater ace and Karting Instructor/circuit owner/team owner/guru). All in all a wealth of experience in motorsport events, which we may try and use to our advantage against some equally impressive other competitors. (We may take this much more seriously than we should though!)
We would be grateful for your kind donations as every penny raised goes directly towards Cash For Kids, with Scotkart kindly donating their premises for free. As an added incentive, the grid positions are decided by how much money each team raises... Each of the team members must raise at least £125 each also, so we are aiming for a bit over the minimum, which we will all personally top up also.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Radio Clyde Cash for Kids gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now and make sure you tune into Clyde 1 and Clyde 2 on the evening of the event and on Monday Dec 6th to find out how we did, or check out www.simeracing.co.uk .
