After living a very satisfactory life, I want to do something to make a change . Global poverty may be too big for us to get our arms around, however we could save an individual or help a family.
I am planning to spend four weeks of my summer holidays next year (summer 2011) at MCRD (Mar Thoma Centre for Rehabilitation and Development ) Navajyothi School. This is a center that cares and serves the needs of children with mental disabilities
Please don't feel as though you are funding a holiday for me, as we have paid for our own travel, accommodation and expenses. All your money goes straight to this charity that RAG supports.
Presently, 78 special needs children are being cared for. The students belong predominantly to poor and BPL (below poverty line) families. Children diagnosed with Autism, Down's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Fragile X Chromosome are grouped according to their IQ and chronological age and trained separately.
I am therefore hoping to raise ≈ £800 (and more) to present to the organization for the daily care and expense of the children.
Below is a price list of what I hope to do with the total money raised:
• £100 - Provide a special meal for all the children for a
whole day
• < £551 - Special meal and a valuable personal toy/item
for each child
• £551 - Take the children for picnic
• > £700 - All the above and the rest of the money will be
donated to the charity for the daily expenses &
care of children
