Having only really taken up casual cycling last summer and immediately catching the bug, when some bright spark at work suggested the idea of a charity bike ride between work offices based 100 miles apart I jumped at the idea. My head initially filled with thoughts of gently gobbling up the miles on a bright sunny afternoon - how wrong could I be; rain, snow, freezing cold weather and a newborn daughter keeping me up at all hours have severly hampered my enthusiasm to get on my bike and train properly! With the big day only 6 weeks away Bradley Wiggins I am not.....

Speaking of my daughter, she is the real reason behind my desire to participate and also my chosen charity - the Special Care Baby Unit at Colchester Hospital Neonatal Unit. Her first week of life was spent in the unit under the superb care of all of the special care nurses who were so supportive and helpful to both Lisa and I, and helped give our little girl the best possible start to her life despite her problems at birth. With words not nearly being enough thanks I hope to be able to give something back by way of donations to help fund important, and potentially life saving equipment.

So if you like the thought of seeing me struggle against the elements, whilst attempting to keep up with the more seasoned cyclists amongst the group; the end result likely being me a wheezing mess slumped over my handle bars then your help in donating a couple of pounds is greatly appreciated, by both myself and also the Special Care Baby Unit at Colchester Hospital.
