In loving memory of Sam Fanyinka.
(6th Jan 2011 - 19th Jan 2011)
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In January our nephew, Sam, was born with a rare condition, callled Patau's Syndrome. He lived for just 13 days before passing away peacefully in his parent's arms, at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton.
There was no indication throughout the pregnancy that anything was wrong, so it was a great shock to the family when he was born with this rare, life threatening syndrome.
Although Sam's life was short, he managed to touch everyone who met him with his bravery, strength, peace, and beauty that shone brilliantly from within.
The last week of Sam's life was spent in the Neonatal unit at Musgrove Park Hospital. The outstanding staff and caring environment at the unit meant that the last days of Sam's life were as peaceful and comfortable as they could have possibly been.
This helped to make a terrible time for the family, just that little bit more bearable.
As a token of our appreciation to the wonderful staff we have decided to raise money for the unit.
We are running, with some of our friends, in the Hatfield Broad Oak 10k race on May 30th 2011, and asking you to please sponsor us.
All the money we raise will go directly to the unit and will help them continue their excellent work, going far beyond the call of duty, day in day out.
If you know me, you'll know I'm not a 'natural' runner and have never run for more than a bus in the last 25 years. In fact none of us have ever run 10k before, so this will be quite a challenge for us all ! ! !
