Story
In just under two weeks time I’m going to do something that I have wanted to do for a very long time – run a Half Marathon. Well, when I say ‘wanted to’, I mean I have thought about it quite a bit in the past, even if I haven’t done a great deal towards actually doing it!
So why am I doing it now? Well, I have been making an effort this year to lose weight, get fitter, and basically sort myself out. And since the start of the year, I have been eating better, and exercising a lot more, and so far I have lost 6 stone (or 84lbs to my American friends or 38kgs to my European friends), and this has enabled me to take up more sports; one of which is running. I ran my first mile without stopping on 18 May this year, and - with the occasional blip - have now reached the point where I can attempt something like the Great Eastern Run… so that’s what I’m doing.
So on Sunday 13 October I will be taking part in the Great Eastern Run. I have chosen to use this opportunity to raise some much needed funds for the Sue Ryder foundation; a charity that does a great deal of excellent work for people with life changing illnesses, as well as providing support for their families.
So if you are able, I’d be very grateful if you could sponsor me by sparing as much or as little as you can for this excellent charity using the attached link.
Thank you very much, and I’ll see you at the finish line!
