My story

Hello!

We are fundraising for UK Children's Neurological Research Campaign. You can visit their website at www.ukcnrc.co.uk

UKCNRC is a charity set up in 2008 by the British Paediatric Neurological Association to foster, promote and enable collaborative national and international research in rare childhood neurological diseases.
Through The Roald Dahl Child Brain Research Development Service UKCNRC aims to fill the research gap for these otherwise neglected diseases, leading to better treatment and clinical management for young people.

Our son, Reuben, has a rare condition called West Syndrome which is a form of epilepsy.

As Reuben has grown older, it has become more apparent how his epilepsy is, and will in the future, affect him. The condition affects every part of his development, for example his speech is very limited. He can say about half a dozen words; he is 4 years old. His developmental age is about 18 months.

His vision is also badly affected by brain damage (which has caused the epilepsy). Reuben has also been diagnosed with Autism.

Many other children are likewise affected by rare neurological conditions, and we would like to try to help to raise awareness of the need to raise funds for this vital research.

Louise and I are currently losing weight with Slimming World; we would like people to sponsor our efforts, and raise much needed funding for this fantastic charity. So far I have lost almost 3.5 stones, and Louise has lost almost 4 and a half stones!

Thankyou

Reuben, Gabriella, Louise and Simon Farrant
