Race to the Stones · 19 July 2014

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

100k Ultramarathon done..BOOM. Decent blisters and accompanying limp but otherwise feeling great. Thank you all for your support and generosity. Simon.

Early night. 5am start

Packing my kit. Water proofs going in since they've forecast hail stones!!

My Rory Coleman's training plan has come to an end so all that's left to do is load up in carbs and just do it. Thank you for your support. I will post an update half way through on Saturday. Simon.

Another 20k training run completed today.

I entered the Race to the Stones Ultra Marathon as a personal challenge and a chance to share that with my best mates, my brother and my nephew.  The sign up fee includes a donation to the event charity, Get Connected, but I thought it would be great if I could raise some additional funds and awareness for Alzheimer's Society UK along the way.

The event takes place on Saturday 19th July 2014.

Race to the Stones is a 100KM route along "The Ridgeway", which is recognised as the oldest path in the UK. Along it’s length there are traces of generations stretching back over 5,000 years!

The route passes up and along the high ground South West from Chinnor in Oxfordshire to the Thames crossing at Goring. From this point the route rises up onto the North Wessex Downs passing golden fields of wheat before the iconic finish between the towering standing stones of Avebury.

Please help if you can.
