Story

My Brighton Marathon finish time was 4:29:10, with a position of 5112 out of 8910 finishers. I went steadily until 17 - 18 miles, then slowed up, but managed to run all the way. By the time I finished I was running so slowly, I was in danger of moving backwards!

My mother-in-law Edie had been in and out of hospital recently. Sadly she died on 20th March. Throughout this period she was looked after by the staff of the Royal Sussex County Hospital. The care that she received was excellent and I want to help improve their facilities by getting contributions to Hospital Friends. I ran the Brighton Marathon on April 15th and hope that my efforts will spur people to contribute funds to this charity. As a further incentive, I ran the Hastings Half-Marathon as a 'warm-up', 3 weeks before, on March 25th, in a very credible time of 1:54:02. I hoped that I did Edie proud by running well in the marathon.
