Story
Hi,
A quick update - I successfully got round London in 3 hours 57 minutes - a bit slower than I hoped for, but considering I caught a cold the Tuesday before, and was still suffering on the day, I'm pretty pleased that I got round in under 4 hours.
Again, thanks to everyone who has sponsored me - Macmillan are really, really grateful for your support. And if you haven't yet sponsored me there is still time!!
Thanks,
Simon.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Once again this year I am putting myself through the torture of navigating the streets of London - no, not the daily commute to work - the London Marathon!
Last year I lumbered around the streets of the capital in just over 4 hours 20 minutes, but this year sees the new and improved Simon taking to the streets, and I'm hoping to get somewhere near my best time of 3 hours 30 minutes. It's a tough ask, but so far training has been going well and fingers crossed injury free.
Like last year I am running to raise money for Macmillan, who do a great job helping people who are either living with, or have been affected in some way by cancer. In addition to the famous Macmillan nurses they also do great work offering financial and emotional support to people and their families who are living with cancer.
My aim is to raise £500, which may not sound much, but that £500 could pay for an hour's worth of Cancerline provision plus a convalescent break for someone with cancer and their carer. If I could raise twice that amount, £1000 could fund a Macmillan nurse for a week - and those people are worth their weight in gold.
When my nan and my mum both lost their fight against cancer, Macmillan were there for both practical and emotional help, and by the funds raised through sponsorship we can ensure they'll be around in the future. So I hope you can sponsor me for whatever you can afford.
On behalf of Macmillan, many thanks for your generosity.
