RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

Every summer we all head to the beaches around the UK to enjoy the fun, fresh air and occasionally sunshine.

However, take a moment to think about the people who spend every day on the beaches watching over you, your children and your friends as you enjoy the sea.

It's too easy to take their efforts for granted, forgetting that they are a charity and need our support to continue protecting us.

To give a little back; I my wife, my children's father and a number of other brave souls are throwing themselves off Guildford Cathedral's tower. For those that are old enough; this is the magnificent modern cathedral that towered so ominously in The Omen.

In order to face up to this chilling prospect I am asking my friends, colleagues and family to dig into their pockets donate so that I become brave enough to face this feat.

Thank you for your support

Simon
