Story
Me and Sonia from our branch will be raising money for Severn hospice who are an incredible charity who supported my family in a time we needed it.
In 2012 my son Daniel was born and I now have a daughter called Nancy. As a parent now I am able to appreciate fully everything my parents did for me and the opportunities they gave me and my brother.
Sadly just before Daniel was born my dad died from cancer and then when Daniel was 1 my mum lost her fight with cancer. I struggle sometimes knowing how much they would have loved to be grandparents. My mum was a teacher who could have helped them academically and my mum whilst always moaning about Shrewsbury Town FC would have loved to take Daniel to their matches
The reason I am writing this is to put in context how much Severn hospice means to people when they need it the most. My dad died in Shrewsbury hospital and no disrespect to the wonderful nhs staff but this was really traumatic as staff were rushing about
My experience at Severn hospice whilst still being deeply distressing was made so much easier to handle by the incredible staff their and ability to look after both patients and family’s alike. The environment they create is so much more dignified for someone in their last stages of life.
100 staff at TSB are climbing snowdonia for a range of charities and mine will be Severn hospice
