Story

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">In September 2010, at the age of 42, I was diagnosed with&nbsp;cancer requiring significant surgery to remove skin and lymph nodes.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>After three rounds of surgery over 6 months, I was given the &ldquo;all clear&rdquo; in the summer of 2011.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>For the next 5 years, I require a check-up every three months to ensure the cancer has not returned.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">I&rsquo;ve made a number of life changes since these events, which include working less hard, spending more time with family and friends, and committing to get fit and lose weight.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>I was a competitive runner in my teens and 20&rsquo;s but lost the habit in my 30&rsquo;s due to a corporate lifestyle, which involved extensive and perpetual business class travel all over the world.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">Surviving cancer has galvanised a latent desire to improve my general health and well-being and has therefore been the incentive to take up running once again.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>The London Marathon provides an ideal target.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">&nbsp; </span>Raising funds for cancer research at Bristol University, of which I am an alumni,&nbsp;completes the circle!</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.&nbsp; Your details are safe with JustGiving and they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.&nbsp; Once you donate they'll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a Uk taxpayer.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;">Please dig deep and help me give something back to those working on the cancer research that has saved my life and many like me.</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
