Story

Dear Friends,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 16 September I'm heading to Tanzania, home of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, at two thirds the height of Everest. The plan is to climb it!

I'm going with 6 others, under the supervision of a South African tour operator. It takes five days to get to the top. Obstacles along the way include altitude sickness, the cold and dodgy toilets.

The reason I'm doing this? As my younger brother likes to remind me, I'm not getting any younger - in fact, it coincides quite nicely with my thirtieth birthday. But who needs an excuse to climb a mountain so challenging, exhilarating and breathtaking?

But equally, we are all fundraising for Action4Africa. This is a non-profit organisation which raises money for projects in Africa through fund raising events, projects and social entrepreneurship. It only has three trustees, one of whom is coming on the trip too. You can check out Action4Africa at www.action4africa.org.uk

I am paying all costs associated with the trip. Any sponsorship is gratefully received and the full amount will go directly to Action4Africa.

Many thanks

Simon.
