Story
It is with weary legs that I sit here and reflect on one of the most challenging but ultimately satisfying experiences of my life. The Ride Across Britain was a very tough course and there were times when I thought I might be unable to go on but the mind is more powerful than the body and can overcome tiredness and pain if suitably motivated. The emotion of crossing the finish line at Land’s End will live with me for a lifetime. I can’t believe it’s over.
Now the challenge is complete the statistics are fairly impressive. I spent 260 hrs training over the last 7 months, covering over 290 miles running and 3000 miles on the bike. In this period my running challenge peaked and I completed the Stanley Half Marathon, the South Georgia Half Marathon and the Stanley Marathon, a key achievement on its own. All this prepared me well for the Ride Across Britain where I spent 77 hrs riding over 9 days to cover 1007 miles. Still not sure how my little hairy legs managed to achieve all that!
Many thanks to those of you who have already sponsored me but there is still a little way top go if I am to reach my target of £1000 for Help for Heroes so this is one final plea to all those who have yet to pledge. Hopefully you will agree that it is a worthy cause and the challenge was suitably remarkable to warrant your support so please dig deep and donate now.
Thanks for your support.
