In a moment of sheer brilliance (or madness!), the Music Department at Wycombe High School decided to present the staff and friends of WHS with a challenge; to learn a new instrument and pass a Grade One exam in six months. Participants are being sponsored to raise money for the 'Play Your Part' campaign. We at WHS are looking to raise £1.5million in order to build a new Music block and upgrade our Performing Arts facilities in other parts of the school, work that is desperately needed. The 'Play Your Part' campaign calls on everybody in our school community to use their many talents and skills in order to raise these funds.
Never having studied music I was persuaded that singing would be a good starting point. I have been given an excellent teacher, Lani Strange. It's said that singing is good for the soul and it must be true as I have enjoyed all my lessons.
