It's all too easy to take education for granted - as children, we moan about homework, wish we didn't have to go, dread tests. And yet across the world, millions of children are denied this basic right.

I realize how lucky my own boys are to have access to high-quality education from the earliest age. And so, by running the Belfius half marathon, and raising money for Build Africa (www.build-africa.org), I am doing one small act to help bring the gift of education to children who will be Africa's future.

Build Africa works with rural communities in Africa to make sure they gain skills and knowledge to help them break out of the cycle of poverty and secure their future. Euroclear's partnership with Build Africa brings funding and hands-on support to the Kalengo Primary School in rural Uganda - in November, a team of ten Euroclear colleagues will be going to Kalengo to work with the children, teachers and savings and loans schemes.
