Sita goes to Burkina Faso!
Sita Bartlett-Ward is raising money for International Service
Story
In september, I will be making the journey to Burkina Faso, with International Service to do vital work protecting and Promoting the rights of the countries most marginalized people.
Burkina Faso is a landlocked country in the west of Africa, covering an area slightly larger than the UK, with a population of 16.9 million people.
It is one of the poorest countries in the world, with a life expectancy of only 55.
Disabled people are the most affected by poverty, exclusion, discrimination and deep rooted traditional prejudices.
Some examples of the work I may be doing, and what past volunteers have done before me are:

- support and promote people living with disabilities
- delivering training to support income generation
- conducting awareness campaigns on HIV and Malaria
- empowering partners to improve their fundraising and capacity
- working to empower rural women through promotion of their human rights, health and income
I will be going to Burkina Faso with a small group of volunteers from the UK, to meet with some volunteers from Burkina Faso, and work with international Service and one of their Partners to help create a lasting and sustainable difference!
International Service:
International Service is and amazing international development charity, that focuses on protecting and promoting the rights of the most marginalized people in Latin America, West Africa and the Middle East. International Service's vision is a fairer world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and fulfill their potential . Some examples of the people that International Service works with are women, disabled people, and people living with HIV/AIDS..

Your donations do not go to me, they will go directly to International Service, ICS (International Citizen Service) who are funding and entirely supporting my trip to Burkina Faso. Year on year, the provide the opportunity for so many young people like myself, who come from various different backgrounds, to travel abroad in order to complete valuable and enriching volunteer work in developing countries. An opportunity they may not have afforded otherwise. Please do help people like me make a lasting difference in some of the poorest countries in the world.
I am very excited about this oppurtinity, and I hope that you can aid me in completing my fundraising in order to be able to go to Burkina Faso and to this amazing work with the local communities, while also developing many new skills and much more experience to be able to do more work like this in the future!
