Three Peaks Challenge · 7 June 2019

Someone is diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK every 14 minutes, and many will need a blood stem cell transplant for a second chance at life. We are committed to increasing the number of potential blood stem cell donors in the UK, so that there is a donor for everyone who needs one.

Story

What am I doing ? The Three Peaks are the tallest mountains of Scotland, England and Wales: Ben Nevis (1345m), Scafell Pike (976m) and Snowdon (1085m). The challenge, which 90 of us from GoCardless will be taking on, is to walk all three consecutively, as quickly as possible (we’re aiming for <24 hours).

For whom? Started in Germany, DKMS has gone on to build the largest database of bone marrow donors in the World (8 million people, leading  to 75,000 donor bone marrow transplants), which are needed to help save the lives of many people with a blood cancer or blood disorder.
