Small animals are often overlooked and misunderstood. They do not always make ideal pets for young children. As with all animals, they require commitment and regular attention for as long as they live, which can be up to 15 years.
Size doesn’t matter! Small doesn’t mean insignificant. Just like you they feel pain, fear, frustration and loneliness. Did you know a rabbit needs as much exercise as a small dog? Imagine being trapped in a small box, 24 hours a day with no company or stimulation! Most people would be appalled to see a Jack Russell shut in a hutch, visited once or twice a day with food, but would they look twice if it was a rabbit?
Bristol Dogs & Cats Home is home to over 70 unwanted & neglected small animals. We are currently planning vital works to re-develop our Small Animal Accommodation, increasing the size of the small animal pens to provide a higher standard of care during their stay with us.
