Dragon Boat Challenge · 24 July 2010

At Bluebell Wood, we care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We support hundreds of families, both in our hospice and in family homes. It costs around £6.7m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive 17% Statutory funding.

Story

SMITH CRAVEN CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS have a team of fiery dragon boat racers!  They are getting ready to set sail & compete in Doncaster’s Dragon Boat Race at the Lakeside on 24th July 2010.

The event organisers (Doncaster Tourism, part of Invest in Doncaster, and Doncaster St George’s Rotary Club) are looking for a number of crews, companies and organisations who would like to battle it out in 30ft brightly painted dragon boats over the 200m course.

By doing this event Smith Craven are raising money for the Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice.

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice offers care and support to children with life limiting conditions who are not expected to reach adulthood, both in their own homes and at the hospice in Sheffield.

Bluebell Wood is a place filled with laughter and love. They give families the chance to relax, take a break and have fun, and they help support the whole family.

It costs £2.5 million every year to offer this support. With no statutory government funding, without the help of their supporters they simply couldn’t help all the children that they do.
