All over Asia and Africa there are thousands of elderly women who are in dire need of help. They lack the basic amenities that are needed to have a life of comfort; they are malnourished, homeless and are lacking supplies that would help them live. Many of the elderly women may be responsible for looking after a husband or even a family, many sacrifices would have been made in order for the demands of her family to be met. 

These grandmother's are not being able to live the later years of their lives in dignity, as they are stuck in poverty. Most likely their mothers and other family members were also stuck in poverty and didn't have the support needed to remove themselves from it. 

Penny appeal is aiming to end this cycle of poverty and is pledging to help save at least one grandmother. They will be provided food, shelter and other support that is needed, in order for their lives to become better and they can live their lives in peace. They don't have to spend it worrying about how they'll support themselves. 

Imagine if your grandma was in such a vulnerable position, lacking basic amenities, had no means of getting food, remained hungry for many days, so they can ration the food. The miniscule amounts of food that would leave them hungry.
