Virgin London Marathon 2016 · 24 April 2016 ·
Welcome to my JustGiving page - thanks for coming here!
Those of you who know me well will know that I've never been a runner - I would dread the thought of even doing ten minutes of jogging, and would usually feel out of breath after about 5. In the last year and a half, this has changed, and I've grown to really love it. When the opportunity arose to run for my company's charity of the year, the NSPCC, in the London Marathon, I thought it would be a great way for me to use something I'm getting better at to fundraise.
I didn't know much about the work the NSPCC did before they became Credit Suisse's charity of the year / I signed up to run - I think because child abuse is much more of a behind closed doors issue, which makes it easier to ignore / take for granted it doesn't happen often, but since reading more about what they do, I really believe the NSPCC is doing fantastic and very important work that isn't easy to do or get right, and really does need the support of their committed and trained staff - counselling, running helplines, school support services, therapy programs and awareness campaigns. The money I fundraise will be helping the NSPCC roll out their schools service program, which delivers support for students and teachers in currently 1 of 4 schools, with the goal of reaching every school in the UK. I would be really grateful for your donations to support the work the NSPCC does (and of my running the marathon!)
