The Sick Children’s Trust is the charity that gives families with a seriously ill child in hospital a comfortable place to stay and a friendly ear to listen in one of our ten ‘Homes from Home’. By providing families with somewhere to stay near their child they have one less thing to worry about.

Story

On 19 June 2015 I will be trekking through the Yorkshire wilderness from Sheffield to Leeds with a team of Irwin Mitchell employees.

We are raising money for Eckersley House, part of the Sick children's Trust.

The money I raise will be used to support families who's children are rushed to Leeds General Infirmary for serious conditions, where the children may be kept overnight, or for many weeks. These children are often from the wider vast Yorkshire region, which means their families can be left with the worry and expense of finding local accommodation at very short notice, in order to be near their children. Eckersley House provides a solution for up to 23 families a night, providing them with a room and other amenities just a stones throw away from the LGI, thus allowing parents to eat a proper meal, get some proper rest and be at 100% in order to help support their children through often devastating and anxious times.

It costs just £30 to keep up one room for a night, so every donation makes a massive difference!
