Story
Footprints Orphanage in Kenya was created by former travel agent Kerry Watson after she visited a remote village in the country and witnessed first-hand the effects of AIDS/HIV and poverty on the local children, many of whom were orphans. In 2010 Kerry decided to return to Kenya to build and sustain a home for children who had lost parents or been abandoned as babies. Starting with just one acre of a land five children, Kerry has grown the orphanage, now caring for 18 children, and she will be educating a total of 40 this year.
I learned about Kerry’s moving story in 2011, while interviewing her for a piece in TTG. Since then I have wanted to raise money for this incredibly inspiring and worthwhile cause. In March I will be running the Paris half marathon – if you are able to make a donation, no matter how small, it would be hugely appreciated.
