Richard thought he would always stay one step ahead of the game in flighting his prostate cancer but that was unfortunately not be be. With your kind donations we hope that this belief will be given to other sufferers and that they will beat their battle.
Thank you! From his loving daughter, Sophie Irish
Tribute by Richard Stode
There are only a handful of people who come into your world, and touch your life in a special way. Some of the people are just flickers of light during a long life, while others are consistent glows for years. For me, Richard was that consistent glow.
Richard was born in Stratford upon Avon on 19th February 1948. He moved to Bristol to study as a chartered surveyor in 1966. I distinctly remember the Renault 4 he drove. While there, in 1976, he was talked into going on a blind date and the girl he met that evening was Julie Powell. They eventually married in 1976 and I was proud to be best man. Julie went on to give birth to Sophie on 23rd January 1980. What a proud Dad he was and 35 years of marriage followed.
Richard of Course built a successful business here in Bristol and he will be sadly missed by his colleagues. This among other assets, afforded him the opportunity to travel and have many adventures.
Richard fought his illness with adversity, was a great man, a kind man, a fun man, a loving husband and father. A great personality, a terrific sense of humour and adventure. The number of friends and colleagues at his funeral told us that. Richard, we miss you. Your family is in good hands. You have graced our lives more than you will ever know.
