I am participating in the trek to Machu Picchu on behalf of Make-A-Wish Foundation UK for two reasons. 

The Make-A-Wish Foundation UK started in 1986 and since then it has granted thousands of wishes to children with life-threatening conditions. Having recently passed the milestone of 10,000 wishes (with the 10,000th wish going to Ben, who wanted to be a chef) this is a charity which is really having an impact across the county. A child with a serious illness is devastating for both family and community so what the Make-A-Wish Foundation provides is an invaluable opportunity that enriches the lives of such children. One day of happiness can make such a difference to a sick child’s quality of life; a difference that will never be forgotten. Due to the wide variety of wish requests, none of which are ever rejected, the Make-A-Wish Foundation is in constant need of support from anyone who can give it! To me, this is a charity which really needs support as the work it does is unparalleled by any other and the result is one that you could not put a price on; the happiness of a child.

The second reason I am taking part in this trek is to challenge myself. Having always loved travelling the opportunity to go to such an incredible place in Peru (whilst also raising money for charity) will be an out of this world experience. Although I've never trekked before I am excited to learn and also thankful for this chance to meet new people through not only the trek itself but also through my fundraising.
