Story

<p><span style="font-family: &amp;amp;quot;Arial&amp;amp;quot;,&amp;amp;quot;sans-serif&amp;amp;quot;; color: black; font-size: 11.5pt;"></span></p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">Thank you for visiting my Justgiving Page</span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">In 2010 I lost my Dad to Oesophageal Cancer after only a short battle with the disease. My Dad had suffered from Barrett&rsquo;s </span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">O</span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">esophagus for many years, a condition our family knew little about even during the years he was poorly from this. </span><span>&nbsp;</span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">My Dad was a truly lovely, kind man, who worked hard to give me and my sister the best childhood we could ask for. He had many friends and was loved by all that knew him for his sense of humour and trickster ways (even the jokes that went on for hours). He always put other people first and loved a pint/whisky down the local. </span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">I feel that had our family known more about Barrett&rsquo;s </span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">O</span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">esophagus and </span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">O</span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">esophageal Cancer we would have been more aware of treatments for this condition and the support that was available to us. </span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">It is now responsible for around five per cent of all cancer deaths, making it the fifth most common cause of cancer</span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;"> yet its profile is not </span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">as</span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;"> high as other cancer types. I want to raise awareness for this to make </span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">sure</span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;"> people understand this common deadly disease. </span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">The money made fundraising for Barrett&rsquo;s </span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">C</span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">ampaign goes to help support research to better understand Barrett&rsquo;s Oesophagus, provide support and advice to Barrett&rsquo;s Oesophagus sufferers and their relatives and friends and raise awareness of the condition to encourage early detection </span></span></p> <p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">That is why on the 1ST APRIL 2012 I am running the Reading Half Marathon to raise money for this great cause. Please </span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">sponsor</span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;"> me to help towards my target of &pound;200. </span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">E</span><span style="font-size: 11.5pt;">very penny counts!!!!</span></span></p> <p><span style="color: black; font-size: 11.5pt;"><span style="color: #000000;">For more information on my chosen charity please visit: </span><a href="http://www.barrettscampaign.org.uk/index.html"><span style="color: #0066cc;">http://www.barrettscampaign.org.uk/index.html</span></a></span></p> <p><span style="color: black; font-size: 11.5pt;">Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
