St Nicholas Hospice Care is a local charity based in West Suffolk and Thetford, serving our community since 1984. As a charity, we believe everyone matters in life and death, and we strive for something better for those facing dying, death and grief.

Story

My dad became ill with cancer in the summer of 2012. After being in and out of hospital, we decided he needed full time care which we couldnt do alone, so he went to St Nicholas Hospice in Bury St Edmunds. He rapidly deteriorated, and after only a few short months, passed away on September the 9th. The care and support that was given, and is still being given, by the hospice is second to none, and without the outstanding work they do, I'm not sure how we would have coped. In memory of my dad, and to comemorate the amazing work of the hospice, me and Matt are embarking on a sponsored road trip. We will be visiting 3 countries in 3 days. Day 1 we wil be travelling to the Angel of the North, entering Scotland past Hadrians Wall, then over to a famous viaduct train station near the Lake district. Day 2 we will be driving down to the spaghetti junction then over the Severn Bridge into Wales. Day 3 we will be visting Stonehenge, before completing our road trip through Southend and London, then making our way back home. We will be making videos and taking pictures along the way, to share our experience with everyone. We are so keen to raise as much money as we can, so that the Hospice can continue to give the support and care that so many patients and families need every day. They rely on donations and fundraising to keep going, so please, although times are tough for us all right now, give whatever you can. Every penny counts and with everyone's help, we can make sure the Hospice keeps doing what it does best.. provide the most outstanding care and family support. They made it possible for my dad to be comfortable in the time he had left - isnt that what every family wants for a loved one? Please find it in your hearts to donate whatever you can.

Thank you :) xxx
