Story

26/3/12:

WE DID IT!

After 13.1 miles in bright March sunshine, we crossed that finishing line. Charlie and I together (well, we sprinted the .1 mile at the end and i do have much longer legs so I just pipped her to the finish) at 2hrs 11mins; Danny at an incredible 1hr 50mins.

So, I didn't make my target of beating him but we did smash 2.5hrs and thanks to all of you, I made my £300 fundraising target and some. A huge thanks for your support - believe me, it meant a great deal on those lonely parts of the course and when tackling Hendford Hill at mile 6. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

14/3/12: So, with less than 2 weeks to go before I lace up my trainers and run around Yeovil for the Half Marathon, I'm calling on all my nearest and dearest to give me a little push with some fundraising.

I'm raising funds for the Piers Simon Appeal: I knew Piers, he worked with Serena back in the 90's, a lovely guy who was tragically killed in the 2004 Tsunami. His family set up the PSA in his memory - a local Somerset charity that provides support to victims of global disasters and also runs the School in a Bag initiative for poor and disaster affected children worldwide. Hence, why I will be running 13 MILES with a ruck sack (school bag) on my back!

If I can raise some cash for their campaigns then it will really mean that I have to cross that finishing line...

And boy, do I need the incentive...Training was going ok until I injured my left leg so I need a little more encouragement to make those last 4 miles!

My target originally was to make it round the course. However, with 2 weeks to go and a competitive twin, my targets have transformed into the following:

1. raise £300 for the PSA (possible, if I ask nicely enough!); 2. finish in less than 2.5hrs (possible, if I get a rocket behind my trainers!); 3. beat my brother Danny (unlikely, but 2 out of 3 ain't bad!)

So, if you all give a little, I will give it my all...

THANK YOU!
