The Standard Chartered Great City Race 2009 · 16 July 2009 ·

Founded as the Women's University Settlement in 1887, it aims to create opportunities for local people in the area of North Southwark and Waterloo to achieve their social and economic potential by delivering community services that are inclusive, accessible to people who feel marginalised and are free or subsidised.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page for the Speechly Bircham team running in aid of Blackfriars Settlement in the 5 kilometre Standard Chartered Great City Race in the City of London.

Blackfriars Settlement is a voluntary organisation striving to create opportunities for local people and to add their expertise, encouragement and support to the efforts and achievements of those in the area. Founded in 1887 by women from Oxbridge universities, the Settlement has worked hard ever since through social changes and uncertainty to help enhance the lives of those living in North Southwark and North Lambeth.
