Our 2010 Fundraising Activities
As a team, we will be tackling several challenges over the coming months in aid of HOPEHIV…
- Two members of the SpiriTel team, Kenny Roberts and Ant Stansbie, have signed up to compete in the ‘Run to the Beat’ half marathon on 26 September. The 13.1 mile race will track through London’s Greenwich, starting and finishing at the O2 Arena, and features bands along the way to provide motivation to the participants!
- Our brave team of six took on the gruelling 15 peaks challenge in July, aiming to climb the 15 highest peaks in Snowdonia (all over 3,000ft high) in just 24 hours… the team faced 32 miles of hiking, with a total ascent of 14,000ft and descent of 15,000ft – that’s half way up Mt Everest and down again in the space of a day! They completed 8 of the peaks, covering two thirds of the total distance in 16 hours, before narrowly missing their final checkpoint, an effort that the team at SpiriTel are immensely proud of!
- Other organised events include swimming 1 mile in the open water of London’s Docklands, and a weekly internal 'bonus ball' draw.

The Charity
HOPEHIV is a charity dedicated to providing the building blocks necessary to help lift African orphans out of poverty. It is their belief that the future of Africa will largely be decided by the next generation of young leaders who emerge from the community of those orphaned by AIDS. From this generation of orphans a generation of leaders can come. Leaders of families, schools, communities, nations and businesses. HOPEHIV is committed to working with local African community partners to pioneer new ideas and share lessons that have worked well in practice, in areas such as entrepreneurship, peer education, street children, leadership development and more.
