After owning him for 20 years I lost my horse Splash at the beginning of this year. With my  new found spare time I decided to train and try and complete the Swindon half marathon on the 9th October 2011. As the route goes past Splash's old home in Day House Lane I thought it appropriate that I do it in his memory and raise money for Redwings Horse Charity.

My brownie unit also supports Lights for Learning (Gambia) where they are installing lights into 2 schools, teaching rugby, training teachers, a midwife is working with Shelter Gambia and  Bangsang hospital and they are renovating 3 classrooms. They have also linked up with FirstAid4Gambia who are running first aid training days in 3 schools and providing equipment. The money raised will go towards building materials and resources for the projects. For more details on the trip check out their facebook page Gambia 2012
