Story
The new St Philip's Church Centre on Mill Road is now open.
After 14 months of building work, while 'the church' used the local school to meet on Sundays, we have now moved back. Easter was a great celebration!
Work began on the transformation of St Philip’s in eraly March 2011 and it was handed back to us near the end of April 2012, though work is still going on with extra costsIt was good to meet so many people last summer when we walked round the Romsey area and to hear so many positive comments on the church building project. Now it is finished and people there have been so many awed comments on the wonderful new place. Both the ouside looks fresh and clean and the inside has been transformed while keeping the feel of the Victorian St Philip's.
It looks great! No longer dirty, dark and dingy, but clean, light and airy
It has been a major refurbishment to create new community rooms, worship area, auditorium, toilets, bike stands, kitchen, cafe area. The scheme is costing £1.5m - -rather more than we had orginally thought - We have had to pay £240,000 on VAT to the Chancellor and about the same on proffesional fees - some fees we would rather than not pay!
It would be great to receive gifts for furniture, equipment and technology or to help pay for our new Centre Manager and Community Worker - whom we appointed in late Aprl 2012.
All gifts appreciated - thanks to so many who have contrbuted.
The Vicar, Stewart Taylor embarked with other church members on a series of 7 journeys around Romsey Town in June and July last year-to help raise funds and publicise the project.
We took 7 as the number of completeness
