This year Steamship Mutual will be sending a 3-man team to compete in the Three Peaks Challenge in support of the Sailors’ Society.  The challenge is to climb and descend three of the highest peaks in within a period of 24 hours

• – Scottish Highlands (1,344m / 4,406ft)

• Helvellyn - (950m / 3,118ft)

• – Snowdonia (1,085m / 3,560ft)

Who are the Sailors’ Society and what do they do?

The Society operates in 30 countries and 100 ports throughout the world.

The Sailors' Society provides a personal lifeline for seafarers on board and when they step ashore.

Seafarers’ contracts last many months and phoning home can be difficult. The Sailors’ Society provides seafarers with access to phone, internet and transport whilst in port.

The charity provides practical help, welfare and spiritual support regardless of a seafarers’ background or The Sailors’ Society coordinates a network of Port Chaplains and Seafarers’ Centres worldwide.

When ships dock today their crews are invariably berthed in a highly mechanised environment, contained within a controlled security zone, often far from human habitation. To combat social isolation, crews still have a desire to get off the ship and refresh their minds and spirits.
